The goal faced by the company’s managers was to choose one of the variants that would guarantee higher process efficiency.

Scope of the task entrusted to KMC-Services

KMC-Services was selected as an advisory partner whose task was to recommend the target solution. As part of the project, KMC-Services was entrusted with the process of data analysis and determination of the necessary future storage space, includingthe size of individual storage zones. Consulting – design of a high-bay warehouse

About the Partner

Lajkonik Snacks Sp. z o. o. is a company with over a hundred years of history, recognised as one of the most important manufacturers in Poland, specialising in baked salty snacks. Products such as salted sticks, pretzels and crackers are prepared according to a traditional recipe, without the use of artificial dyes and preservatives, and the Lajkonik Snacks brand is recognised by 96% of Polish consumers. More details can be found at the website.

Challenge

Due to the dynamic development of the company, it was necessary to build new warehouse space. In order to design it in an optimal way, adapted to logistics processes guaranteeing the highest efficiency of logistics operations, Lajkonik Snacks Sp. z o.o. asked KMC-Services to develop a functional concept proposal for the design of a new high-bay warehouse.

Scope of the task entrusted to KMC Services

In the first stage of the project, a logistics audit was carried out in order to define in detail the objectives, expected effects and planned future logistics processes. The analysis put particular emphasis on the specificity and scale of the planned production and the resulting storage needs of Lajkonik Snacks. One huge challenge and the greatest difficulty involved was the very short time available for project implementation. Due to time pressure at the stage of analysis and at the stage of developing solutions, workshops were carried out in which dedicated employees of both companies participated. The exchange of experiences and the practical knowledge acquired in this way made it possible to prepare a warehouse concept closely tailored to the Client’s needs together with KMC-Services.

Project results

A functional design was prepared for the selected warehouse concept, taking into account the main logistics processes of Lajkonik Snacks. All the most important unit operations have been mapped out and broken down into basic stages with the assumed implementation time. Based on this information, KMC-Services experts presented the proposed layout of zones in the warehouse, proposed a rack infrastructure and types of forklifts suitable for these processes, including the human resources necessary for the implementation of specific processes. The solution developed by KMC-Services is so versatile that it allows for the introduction of modifications along with the Client’s changing needs. This solution provides significant added value.

The company’s headquarters are located in the United States, and its factories are found in strategic points around the world, including in Poland, in Niepołomice near Kraków, where various types of lids for packaging are produced.

Challenge

It was expected that this warehouse could be used in a much more effective way, providing additional space for the development of the company’s production alongside other tangible benefits.

Scope of the task entrusted to KMC-Services

Silgan White Cap Polska asked KMC-Services to analyse the situation and then to prepare proposals for solutions in the field of reorganisation and optimisation of the functioning warehouse. KMC-Services was also asked to select the appropriate storage infrastructure and to prepare the concept of material flows through the warehouse, as well as to adapt the facility for storing barrels with varnishes.

Project results

As part of the project, three different concepts of development and use of the existing warehouse space were created.
